Some good insights - let me add something that I did not make as clear as I should - my own experience has clouded my view of others.
Verapamil does not work partially for me - IT WORKS COMPLETELY - sorry for shouting- NO FREEKING HEADACHES after a few days of taking Verapamil - 480 mg of the slow release variety.
My cycles are always 6 weeks long - six weeks are up - I stop taking the verapamil.
The following is about as spiritual as I get, so if spirituality bothers you, read no further.
I endured clusters every year for about 15 years without any medication of any kind - I think God said - " this schmuck has suffered enough and allowed verapamil to work for me". I really mean this ( almost ).
