I really liked, and agree with Gary G's response to your earlier post about your "water theory". I noticed that you didn't leave an E-mail address, nor did you respond to Gary's post. I was wondering if you were still researching Gary's request. Here's Gary's thoughtful post:
Hi Bill
1. the nasal congestion/discharge is only a frequent minor symptom of CH attacks - many people don't get it with their attacks, and some (like me) only get it once in a while
2. you might want to spend a little time in the library with some anatomy books -
the whole nasal/sinus complex isn't quite as freeflow as you seem to think -
also - check out a neurological map of the trigeminal nerve bundle it is a perfect roadmap to the how & why of Ch pain
3. IF you actually experience relief in the way you described, I would be more apt to think the problem isn't CH to begin with - something else that might be helpful to investigate
