I don't know how to prevent them without drugs, but check out Paco's entry below on hot sauce. He says if you put it under your tongue where there are no nerves so it doesn't burn it aborts a headache in five minutes. He just uses a couple drops. He prefers Cholula Hot Sauce. As hot sauces go, it's very hot. He says to just not get it on your lips or tonge. I suppose you could absorb whats left under your tongue after the 5 mins are up with a hankerchief or paper towel.
If you already have some Tabasco Sauce on hand, that would probably work as well. That was what was used in post from 6/99. The Cholula is a bit pricey as hot sauces go. But a little goes a long way if you only use two drops each headache.
Good luck. Oh, also, since Alex thought that his use of capsaicin for a couple months put him to remission for over a year from being chronic, & since the "hot" in hot sauce is capsaicin, maybe if you use this for a couple months, you'll be lucky, too. I know that's a big "if."
