After an exhausting one year trial with an array of medications, I put together as much info as I could get my hands on, along with a letter and sent it off to both my general doc and my neuro. It was not easy to get them to agree to prescribe it. I didn't understand their reluctance because the other meds have such horrible side affects and pediatricians hand out ritalin like water and they are tightly regulated. The side affect that is most disturbing to docs is that the patient can become dependent. As if we are not going to be dependent on one drug or another anyway.
