I think that you made a very good point above when fighting the pain. Don't fight it. Let it flow through you with the understanding that it will leave your body, and yes, return again, but also leave again. This is a hard thing to do. And I was once quite good at it. But eventually, I just gave up on keeping the practice. Over the past year I've been working at building it up again. And what I've seen through these phases is that, whether the actual sensations diminished or not while in practice, the effect that they had on me was nowhere as devastating.
