When I was in high school I was in a band with a few of my friends and we were scheduled to play a few songs at the school's Christmas assembly. Anyway, a few minutes before our set was due, I could tell I was going to be in trouble, but I had hoped that I would be alright for a few minutes while we played our songs.

Well, thank God for Amanda (my fiancée, but then girlfriend). She was in the audience and saw me reach up and grab the bridge of my nose before we had started playing. She went up to the wings of the stage and waited. Sure enough, about 30 seconds into the first song I got hit . . . I stopped playing, obviously, and just sat down on my amp. Amanda came out and walked me off stage like an old man in front of the entire school while the rest of the instruments slowly died off. Fortunately my friends were pretty understanding, even if the crowd wasn't. Even worse, we stayed backstage for about an hour before I felt well enough to leave. There were all kinds of rumours the next day about "the guy who just couldn't wait."
