Hi Steve,
I was on Ultram for awhile. It took some of the edge off of the pain, but the pain was still there pretty hardcore. Made me sweat alot and itch like crazy.

I do know that it is not a longterm medication, and if taken over a period can cause some other problems (Istarted throwing up blood by the time I stopped.)

Pain meds are ok if you can't find anything else that works, but an abortive is preferred over a pain med. If you haven't tried them, you may want to ask your doc about Imitrex (didn't work for me but helps hundreds of others), Ercaf (awesome but deadly), Botox, Maxalt, Depakote.

Be careful. Some treatments can actually mess you up more than help you. I was on a med called Neurontin, which is an anti-siezure medication - and I swear though I havent taken it for a few months that it left some residual side effects that basically are not fun. Doesn't affect everyone the same - but that is the case with most meds.

Peace,
Carl
