Lithium is always the first thing I try when a cycle starts -- some years it works, some years it doesn't. I have no side effects at all at the dose you're taking, but if I have to bump it to 1200 mg/day, I get a slight trembling in my hands.
If it's not working (for me, it either quashes the headaches within one week or it doesn't work at all), I go to sansert. If sansert doesn't work (some years it does), I go to verapamil.
Talk to your doc -- I haven't read anywhere that lithium can cause sleeplessness but it might.
