Prednisone always works for me. It's the only preventive med I can say that about. However, it's also my very last resort -- the side effects are no fun at all!! Read up on your literature so you know what to watch out for. Personally, I was up 5 to 10 times a night to pee, was incredibly hungry no matter how much I ate, gained almost 30 pounds, face broke out like a teenager, etc....
