I can't help you about the neurologist, but it is possible to have both CH and "a normal pounding headache" at the same time. In my case, that was something that gave my doctor a lot of trouble with the diagnosis. That's why a headache journal is a good idea, so that you can differenciate the symptoms. I have been doing it for the past two months, and feel like I understand the headaches better, even though the CHs are still as unpredictable. Take care of yourself.
