I am a 60 year old woman who was diagnosed by a neurologist as having cluster headaches last spring (my GP also thought cluster headaches). I find it almost impossible to believe that this could be what is wrong as I am female and except for a hint of this a couple of times in the past have never suffered anything like this. It seemed to start like a tingling in the left top of my head at 2 am every night at which time I HAD to get up as I couldn't bear it lying down. I had tearing of the left eye and thought I could follow a nerve path from the left side of my nose up to the tingling area. This lasted for almost 4 months. I had 2 rounds of Prednisone, breathed oxygen at night (which seemed to help) and finally Verapamil seemed to stop it; however, it may have just run its course. I was positive it had an allergy connection and went to an ENT doctor but he saw no infection in my sinuses. The past week or two (allergy season again) I have felt a sensation like this headache is going to begin but I started on the Verapamil again and it never developed. Also I am being desensitized. I think I may have had a herpes virus running on that nerve and NOT cluster headaches. Does anyone even minutely resemble this sequence? HELP
