Ice picks can come from occipital neuralgia but most doctors don't get the idea that sometimes pressing on the back part of the skull (occiput) is part of the headache exam. Pain can shoot into the eye. Pain behind the eye can be from many other causes too. A GOOD neurologist should be able to check these out as well with proper testing.

My neurologist does occipital nerve blocks that helped relieve my ice picks.
