In the trade we call that an "I. D. 10 T." error. The old fat finger problem. Usually related to a disconnect between the keyboard and monitor.

You just gotta remember where you are and what you're doing. The system was intentionally changed to work this way precisely due to the behavior you are demonstrating. The feature is called a "look-ahead undo" function, which is designed to anticipate your future mistakes and help you avoid them thereby saving you the aggravation of having to actually clean them up later. And remember, it is a big mistake to let the computer know you are frustrated. They will take advantage of that situation.
