Gary, I disagree that depression is not a symptom of CH; I think it sometimes is. I believe that chronic severe pain can lead to depression, especially until we learn to accept the disorder and to deal with it in a positive manner. I believe it is possible to have CH and to avoid becoming depressed, and that you have posted some excellent advice on this subject.

I agree that it is not a universal side effect.

I also believe that some people are predisposed to depression, then have CH. These people have a particularly difficult time dealing with the pain/depression cycles.

I absolutely agree that alcohol makes both CH and depression worse, and I agree with all of the rest of your post.
