Hi Liz, I agree with your recommendation of giving a herbalist a try. Before the advent of modern drugs, herbs were the treatment of necessity. Many of the drugs on the market today have a herbal base or were synthesized to act in similar manner as the "real" thing. I guess what I am saying that I feel that the "real" thing is usually the best choice. Unfortunately, due to herbs association with witches along with the inclusion of poorly trained or untrained dispensers of these herbs, they have been labeled as quack food and fairy tale fill.
When choosing a herbalist it is important to make sure that the practitoner is fully qualified, is well recommended and has many years of sound practice under his or her belt. There are shysters everywhere and unfortunately the natural health industry seems to be a favorite haunt probably because for many this is their last stop, their last hope.
Hope your dad has found the right herbs and the right doc.
Take Care,
Bobbie P.
