I'm new to this site (made a brief appearance during last years 2 month bout), but still a newcomer.
It seems to me the only real help is in expression.
The doctors are clueless and the medications are only useful to a few and temporary. There is obviuosly no
sure-fire cure for this disorder. But, there does seem
to be some comfort in the "misery loves company". I must congratulate everyone here though for the abscence of self-pity. I see everyone out to encourage others by their experiences. Knowing someone understands seems to be the biggest reliever we have.
Monique and her husbands story about brought me to tears...then the kind responses...and the last post about the flowers was the clincher.
Bob's "No Mas!" post...we've all been there. I see you posted the next day Bob, way to hang in. But Bob was not a quitter for making the post, and neither was he treated as one. The post by Flapper about her ordeal at work hit home with my own fears.
I've found no help in medications, but in all of you and your true compassion.
It's also good to see loved ones of sufferers here. To them I say "we'll be okay". Speaking for myself, it sometimes hurts me more to have my loved ones watch me deal with this, and their pain of not being able to help. We love you, so we may hide away now and then : )
The bodily pain we endure I think we can only temporarily "fix", but thanks to all of you here, we can at least fight this beast mentally.
The convention is a great idea. Not only to meet everyone, but maybe we can get people aware of CH and hopefully get some better research into it's cause and cure. Oh, and my own personal hope...they'll quit calling them "headaches!!!"
Oops...uh...sorry..heh heh...just kinda hate hearing
"Oh yeah, I've had bad headaches before..." Or, "How are those headache things...?"
Okay, lost my train of thought there for a sec...back now : )
Guess all I really wanted to say is:
"Thanks for being here!"
Dave
