I am a very chronic sufferer, Remission for me is to make 4 hours without an attack, I use to think that because of the CH problem I could take almost any amount of physical pain, While I do think it gives you the ability to endure more than the average person I had an incident that changed my mind totally!
While Shelling on the Beach with my wonderful, understanding and loving wife of 28 years I accidently stepped on the smallest, itty bittyest stingray you could imagine. the little guy stuck his stinger into the end of my big toe.
I walked about 75 feet to the hose and washed it off, as it was bleeding and had sand all over it, that's the last thing I remember until I awoke or came out of it in the ambulance. I went into shock and when I got to the hospital the only thing they could do was put my foot into a bath of extremely hot water and wait for the toxin to work it's way out. Now I've been stung by wasps, stung by honey bee's, stung by Jelly fish, catterpilla's and bitten by spiders with no ill affects.
I felt like some one had hooked me up to a red hot I.V, and I almost cried, it took 2 hours for the burning to stop and ever since then I look at pain a little differently.
Maybe not so Macho Sailpappy
