From what I have read, most people prefer ice, but when I was having clusters, ice really made it unbearable. I couldn't even stand room-temperature air. I wrapped a scarf around my head and nose to breathe warm air. Picture me sleeping sitting up in a chaise lounge, arms dangling on both sides to keep them from falling asleep and hurting (arthritis) with my head wrapped up. Makes for a funny picture. Think I'll draw one of myself and post it.

Seriously, supporters really have to play the guessing game - what to do. It's best to just silently be there. Wait for a prompt from him as to what he might need. Asking really aggrevates the sufferer and sometimes they say mean things that they are sorry for later. My adult son is now the sufferer and I the supporter. My clusters just up and quit in 1986, and I don't expect them back.

I found this site last August when my son was having a cycle, just trying to see what was out there. I have found good friends here and decided to stay. This is the best place
in the world for sufferers and supporters alike.
