Mike has been med free for a couple of years now too. Went the whole route, except we didn't know about verapimil. He just kept building up immunities to each new med he tried and suffered side effects from all. He has tried feverfew with limited success, all kinds of different naturopathies that each offered some benefit but of course, never enough to make a big difference.
We have found that since he has been med free that although the attacks CAN be very brutal, the cycles are shorter, so I guess it's the lesser of two evils. Quick and dirty, get it over with. The water treatment has made an impressive difference with his last two cycles. The attacks in this last cycle were definitely down in numbers and severity. There were breakthrough headaches of course but the duration of them was much shorter. He used to normally go about 8 - 10 weeks, 5-8 attacks a day at the peak and this last one was about 5 weeks, max 3 a day. More shadows than we've ever noticed before but less major attacks.
Certainly something to be said for the med free route if you ask us.
