I received a message the other day from the Life Extension Foundation about another study other than Dr. Goadsby's about the physical causes of clusters. This is the message:
"I found another study relating to cluster headaches being caused by malformations in the brain. It was with middle cerebral artery dependent arteriovenous malformation (AVM). After surgical removal of the AVM, the headaches completely dissolved and never returned. More studies are now being done along this line."
I received this after I e-mailed them asking if they knew of anything new going on this field in addition to Dr. Goadsby's research. For anyone who is not familiar with this organization, they are a non-profit organization who funds millions of dollars worth of research each year. I have been a member for several years. Most of their research is done on less rare conditions such as cancer, etc. They have a web site if anyone is interested, I believe it is LEF.com. Maybe this can it least give us some more hope.
