I have never used imitrex injections but I started taking imitrex pills 2 yrs ago. The strange thing is that the pills I took were 25mg not 50mg(at the time I got them they were out of 50mg and had to give me 25mg). So if you're looking for a smaller dosage I'd suggest 25mg over cutting the 50mg in half.
Last year I began using imitrex nasal spray & still do(when I can get a hold of it) which are 20mg. In comparision to the pills I prefer the spray. The spray works faster for me & works almost all the time. Whereas the pill was slower & worked for me about 1/2 the time. However, the down fall to the spray is that if it doesn't work the first time I have to wait 2 hrs before I can spray again and of course you know with ch in 2hrs it's like you never had the headache in the first place so why bother.
Side effects: Mild tightening of the chest & for some reason the stuff makes me a bit hyper. I've never experienced a "rebound headache". Overall I think if you have to use a drug it's a real good one & it feels rather clean.
