I did choose to use Java applets for various controls, including the menu system, the rich-text data entry fields, and the tabular views. I have a feeling that the first time you load these Java applets they take a little bandwidth, but it was a choice I made for added functionality over performance. Perhaps I can implement a HTML-only version without much work, if needed.

BTW -- the moving pic is the hypothalamus... the other one, the one that looks like a Klingon bird-of-prey, is the Limbic system, which wraps around the hypothalamus. As the hypothalamus gyrates you can see how it would fit inside the limbic structure. I thought it was kind-a cool, so I stole it, forgot where, a university website, I think.
