This is a bad news/good news kind of thing. Yes,
the bad news is that many of us have had clusters
for many years. But the good news is that more
and more medication, both preventive and abortive,
is available to control the pain. Also, the
availability of information, like that on this
message board, can help you find the right
combination of meds and whatever else (like
oxygen, or even sticking your head in a freezer)
to control the pain. What I've done is to read
through all the messages very carefully, both
present and past. I print out messages that especially
might pertain to my situation. Then I bring them
to my doctor to help work out medication regimes.
This has been a tremendous help for me. It makes
me feel more in control.
