Hi Carlos,

As the name implies, floaters are little "splotches" (for lack of a better word - they "look" like small pieces of dust or tiny fibers) that seem to "float" in your visual field.

In fact, i think they're objects (??) inside the eye that float inside the eyeball between the lens and the retina - thus producing the effect. I've been told they're harmless (15 year old opinion of an opthamologist), that they can cause problems (here in this MBoard), that they should be ignored/can't be corrected (many websites, typically eye "specialists"), and that they must be looked at (again, this MBoard). Once again, it's a crap shoot.

Anyway, that's what they are ...
