As some of you may know I have had an amazing success with a relatively low dose of Verapamil. This is especially surprising considering that Verapamil is not the most successful treatment for chronic clusters. I have thought about this and began to wonder whether it has anything to do with the fact that I have never taken an abortive treatment for an attack. This is not out of choice, but due to the fact that I had the headaches for nearly four years without knowing what they were. Subsequently, I never took an abortive medicine as I didn’t know what I was aborting!!

As soon as I started Verapamil it worked, so again I have not felt it necessary to ask a doc for an abortive medicine (or Oxygen). I still get headaches around once or twice a week but I fear that if I start taking abortives I may increase the number of attacks due to rebound headaches.

I am probably talking rubbish, but I have wondered about this and thought it was worth raising.

G.
