I had to spend a week at a university vocational rehabilation evaluation center. Kind of know what you mean, most of the young people I was grouped with were on SSI and had alcoholic or drug addict problems. We chatted at night, and I could not and still do not understand why these young people that are strong and healthy are hurting their bodies this way, but I guess SSI considers it to be a disease, self inflicted but still a disease. In your case, if the CH's are disabling, you have to fight back and find a couple of doctors that will write letters in your behalf, I personally hope that I never go on SSI, you have lost all of your privacy and I still don't know how people can live on their guideline, this is way way below the poverty standards. The kids, well I call them that 20's and 30' tried to get me to join them in hitting the bars at night, I have no idea where they get the money to go to a bar, but I respectfully declined, was having bad trauma HA's because of the accident and didn't want to top that off with a CH, I felt that I was the only disabled person there. The courses offered appeared to me to be a joke, such skills as to how to operate a copy machine or turn a computer, just wish I wasn't blessed with CH's or that damn accident, still able to earn a living, going to pay one large last alimony payment today and then I can go on, feel a little paranoid at times, what's next? thought CH's were bad enough, then the accident, shit, it's all part of life I guess.
