I don't know how long ago you posted. I have just got up from a bad night in UK. I have been scared to go to sleep. Even though you know you have to sleep, it is hard to relax when you know what is going to happen. You get more and more tired day by day.
We can't stop your pain but we know what you are going through.
All I can offer is this: (and it will sound pathetic) relaxation exercises or self hypnosis before I go to sleep help me in two ways. They enable me to relax during a headache and they quite often (with less bad mid-sleep headaches)enable me to ride them out in a sort of half-aware state. The biggest bastards I get are the ones during the day or evening. I also try to laugh at myself during the times I don't have a headache and to prepare but not anticipate them. Unfortunately, when I am stressed they often stay away. It is when I am most relaxed that the worst ones hit.
remember, we are stronger than we think - because we endure more.
