Dear Oprah,In April of 1999 my husband Steve had a Brain Trauma, He had what DR'S. call an A.v.M. Steve's sat on his Brainstem and ruptured , hewas 38 yrs. old .Steve underwent a 17 hour operation the first time, shortly after that ,Steve underwent another surgery for swelling. While he was hospitalized the firt time we almost lost Steve several times ,due to complications. Alltold Steve was in the hospital for 10 months. He can no longer eat or swallow by mouth ,he uses a walker and suffers from severe depression.Through all of this I have been there for my husband.I work full time with Special Needs Children and I am the mother of two sons. Ijust wanted people to know ,what real love means and what having faith is.This has changed mine and Steves life forever and we struggle every day with the aftermath of this tragedy but I love my husband and I have faith that everything will come together and make some sort of sense.People give up too quickly and don't take their marriage vows seriously .I would love to relieve some of Steves stress but there are so many .I miss a lot of work due to bringing Steve to his many DR. appt.'s. We have avery old car,1987 Mercury, it is constantly breaking down.It would be so wonderfull to have a realiabe vehicle .I don't ask anyone for anything and I take care of my husband all by myself ,even if nothing comes of this letter I wanted people to know some of us take our marriages seriously tru good-times and bad .Thank-You,BETTy
