I was 13 years old and was woken up from a deep sleep. It's strange to think about this now because I remember it like it was yesterday. I stayed in bed until I could no longer stand the pain and then went and woke up my parents. I really thought I was dying and so did they. It scared the heck out of all of us.
I think that this was the first time that I ever saw real fear in my Father's eyes. His daughter was hurting and he didn't know what to do to help me.
I am very fortunate to have the wonderful parents that I do because they never gave up on finding the best doctors to help me find out exactly what was wrong with me. I learned from them to never accept any information that just doesn't sound right and to insist on the best treatment that you can get.
