I have to ask why? Is there some monster out there that will come along and eat them if they admit they don't know or they made a mistake?
Or is it just that they're afraid of litigation?
Personally, I think they should be more accountable. Not just from the aspect of the recent Shipman case, but also for when they make mistakes generally.
But with a panel of doctors disciplining other doctors, there's hardly likely to be major punishments meted out.
I have to say I'm as cynical and untrusting of the medical profession as I sound. I have absolutely no faith in doctors at all.
Sad, but true.
