The different Triptane compounds are slightly different in their action, like how fast they kick in, how long they last, etc.
They are not an attempt to grab a piece of the cake as large as possible, and this should be obvious by the fact that Imitrex (Sumatriptan), Zomig(Zolmitriptan), Maxalt(Rizatriptan), Amerge(Naratriptan) are all manufactured by GlaxoWellcome.
