Blind Willy Johnson (not Blues, strictly, but let's not worry) had a lifelong faith in God. He was born in about 1902 and deliberately blinded by his stepmother at the age of seven. He was a blind black man living in Texas. All his material was religous and his faith sustained him.
I love the Blues. His musical legacy and that of many others endure to help me endure now. And then there's reggae: Peter Tosh (murdered), Bob Marley (cancer).
