Hi Bob,

My CH's started when I was 19 years old. They started as short sharp headaches that were very intense and would only last for a couple of minutes. They came in bouts normally during the autumn months. I remember having my wisdom teeth out around that time I was put out completely and five teeth were removed, I still have them in a box. :o) I've had trouble with my teeth ever since. My bite was
changed significantly when the wisdom teeth were removed. I had been to see a doctor about the headaches, he did the once over routine of looking at the back of the eye for I don't know what's and checked my blood pressure etc. and then told me I must be suffering from migraines and told me to buy some migraleve. I lived with that idea for some time because the headaches were only very short and didn't happen all year round.. Slowly as the years went on things started to get worse and the attacks would last longer and longer. They got really bad when I had a rout canal done on a one of the teeth at the back of my mouth. But I didn't think there was any link because the tooth was on the opposite side of the head to the pain. But now that I think about it I do wonder if it too had something to do with my bite. Once you have a filling or crown done it must change the bite the way your mouth sits when closed. I doubt it actually causes the headaches but I'm getting the impression that it probably doesn't help to have your bite changed.

I was successfully diagnosed with CH's in 1996. I must say thanks for asking us to look back on our first headaches this has given me a good insight into the way my headaches have evolved and possibly why I am a chronic CH sufferer. As my teeth have been getting more treatment so my CH's have been getting stronger and a combination of bad bite and all the medication I've been on may be causing my attacks to persist.

I could be reaching for a reason (I've done that before)... ;o)

Anyway hope this helps in some way.

Jonathan.

(CH sufferer 6 years chronic 1.5 years)

PS. I also had operations on both ears to removed glands (gills) that should have grown out when I was still in the womb, I had them removed when I was 14 years old. I've often thought it may have had something to do with that operation.
