When I went to the urgent care clinic on Mon night the doc couldn't believe the level of painkillers I had at home. Esgic was low end? Stadol next? Oxycontin too? All at home? And it hasn't touched this headache?
When she started talking to my family doc on the phone to touch base with him about the level of pain I was undergoing I almost had to laugh. I could picture him on the phone with her. I heard her end, I can picture his.
"Yes, I know what he is taking and in what amounts. Didn't work on today's headache? Have you given him any Demorol to help with the pain yet? Not yet? Lady, what are you doing?!? Get him some damn relief!"
For some reason I tend to like my family doc--he seems to understand that the pain levels I undergo are not just your run-of-the mill bad-day-at-work headaches. He has seen me in his office balled up in the corner and crying. He at least tries to help me and to understand and learn. More than most other docs have ever done.
