While the average cluster sufferer is awakened during REM sleep, most of my attacks have always been during waking hours. In the 13 or so years that I've suffered, probably only 6 or so have woken me up.

The intensity of my attacks vary also, going from very mild to Kip 10+, back to a 2 or 3, and so on throughout my cycle. Though the nausea is not usually part of the attack, during extremly bad attacks I've experienced nausea and throwing up usually will stop the attack cold.

My cluster cycles of 13 years ago in no way resemble what I experience today. IMHO, I think in some cases we experience a progression of cluster symptoms and in other instances a regression.
