hi Amanda,

these are gonna sound wierd. i've been trying to go the drugless route for about 8 months. here're some things that help (of course, there are no "solutions" ... just circumventions)

1. smoker's breath spray. with heavy mint. open your mouth real real real wide, stick out your tongue as far as you can, and spray the CH side of your throat way-y-y-y back there about 3 or 4 times. it'll make your eyes water. maybe itz just a distraction, but it mediates the pain for a few minutes. (warning: there's some alcohol in some of those sprays ... not much, but if you're real real sensitive to it, this may not be a good option).

2. lay on your (nonCH) side, prop your head on your hand, close your eyes, open your mouth (breathe thru your mouth), and kinda lean into your hand, pushing your head (up) toward the CH side until your neck starts to get tight on the (down) nonCH side. now roll your head toward your CH side (try to point your nose at the ceiling) slowly ... many times you'll hear a "crack" on the CHside of your neck. then roll your head back and repeat 5 or 6 times. this is hard (to describe and to do) ... especially when your head is raging ... but if you imagine relaxing a rubber band that goes from behind your nose to your shoulderblade (CHside) while you do this, i think it helps. it helps me.

3. of course, the O2 ... as Kip posted.

good luck,
