I make RICE bags out of old material that I keep in the freezer all the time. They can also be warmed in the micowave! I've had the same ones for yrs.
They aren't messy like ice would be and they are real cheap! You can make them any size you want and they fit the place you put them, if you don't fill the bag too full. You could also use plastic baggies but I like the feel of material next to my face. I wear a winter glove on the hand so my hand doesn't get so cold. They keep the cold/or warmth really good but I have extras if I need more. Sometimes I have a cold one on my face and a warm one on my neck because I tense up during an attack.
