Went to the new neuro yesteday and the diagnosis is CPH-Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicarnia. I know I should be
releived that its not CH but here's where the confusion
comes in. Rather than put me on Indomethacin she put me
on Calan (verapamil.) I am not an expert on CPH but from what I have read, its indomethacin therapy that is
effective in treating CPH and Calan is prescribed for CH. I argued this point with the doctor but she claims
that indometacin casues stomach ulcers and wants to try
the Calan first. She also wants me off ALL pain meds within the next 2 weeks including Advil and I've been
eating Tylenol 4 and Advil like candy so thats not going to be pleasant. I can understand her reasoning on
this part of it since she'll have no way of knowing if
the Calan is working or if its the Tylenol and she's concerned about re-bound headaches. With 20 years behind me with this headaches I can't help but feel a little pissed at the medical profession for misdiagnosing me . I have seen every specilists there
is except for a witch doctor. Lucky for me that I was
in the right place at the right time-here on the message board to read Bob P's referrel to Tracy to read
about CPH in the headache links and make that appointment. So if anyone reading this post is having
alot of attacks (in my case up to 15 a day) and think
you are just getting lots of attacks with heavy shadows in between and can't tell the differance between one attack ending and another beginning, do yourself a favor and look up CPH in the Headache Links.
You just might save yourself from 20 years of hell with
practically no relief. I just hope this new doctor knows what she's talking about. Bob P, hope you can help me out on this. I hear you know a little something
about CPH. Again I want to thank everyone for your support-if it wasn't for this board, I would still be
trying to push that square peg into a round hole as August would say! I also want to thank Jonny, Karen, Piper, and Cyndi for the e-mail that was waiting for me
when I retuned home from the neuro yesterday. It's a good feeling to know someone was thinking about me.
