Ck out the references to possible hypothalmic malfunction, perhaps re: seratonin production/deficiency as a possible root for cluster headache - think there's some in DJ's wonderful writeup on this site (start at the homepage & click to his article)

good chance to try DJ's new in-site search feature which is a GREAT idea
( 2 MORE points for DJ, eh ?)

apparently some docs are beginning to think the oxygen that helps us MIGHT be doing it by affecting seratonin production, more than by vasoconstriction - interesting

and - the whole seratonin thing is believed to be very important in depression, seasonal disorder, etc..........who knows, but it's the best theory yet as far as I can tell, with the fewest contradictions between clinical details & variables and the mechanics of the theory...

and in answer to your environmental comments:
guilty as charged -
nice little pond out back, brook flowing out to small lake at bottom of ridge on which we live, part of a flowage which ends up in a beautiful stretch of the Atlantic coat 20 miles away;
where we are (considered 'inland around' here) is definitely the "cheap seats" of the region, go another 20 miles inland and you're into the White Mountains of ME & NH, and the prices shoot up again ......but I'll tell you, if I "must" have clusters, this is the place - last night I "walked one off" about 1 AM - 7 or 8 laps around our clearing, 30 degrees, brilliant stars by the kabillions....but now I'm drifting into my "try looking on the positive side" mode and folks HATE that, I guess, - so, later !
