I do 480 mg/day (I use the 240 mg SR long acting tabs, morning and night). Any lower dose doesn't work for me. It seems to be effective after about a week and a half. Like Riccardo says, though, check with your doctor because some people can get into low blood pressure problems. Good luck with it!
