Another layman's opinion. I think Depakote is also an anti-siezure drug, and one of the theories is that migraines (which Depakote helps) and perhaps clusters have something of the same mechanism of siezures. Hence--so the theory goes, at least--Depakote helps headaches and bipolar "siezures." I know a friend who, after taking Depakote for bipolar, never had another migraine. Not sure whether it is as effective with clusters. Beware, however, the side effects of Depakote--they caused my friend to move to Tegratol instead for her bipolar.
