Hello Jan,
Most definitely -- I am chronic and my pattern of episodes is very similar to yours. That is, within the overall year-long cycle, the headaches are much, much worse at some stages than at others. Right now, for example, I'm only getting them at night and they're not too severe, and they don't occur every night. For me as well, oxygen is an instant relief. During this past winter, however, they were active, full throttle, for four months. If I believed in hell, that would have been it.
I can't use imitrex; topamax didn't work for me (but I know it surely has for many others) so I'm currently on 420 a day verapamil. I would really like to reduce that dosage, just to see what would happen and to be as medication-free as possible, but I don't want to stir the waters as long as things are managable, which they are. For the moment.
What strange and insidious things these are!
I don't know if all this is even remotely helpful, but I did want to reassure that yes, there are cycles within cycles, and where we go with that, I don't know.
Meanwhile, let's keep the faith.
Ken
