Mike uses welders O2 the same way you do, takes it right from the hose but hey - whatever works, right? No flow regulator.
I called the poison control centre before he did this and they told me the same thing - O2 is O2 - the only risk is tearing lung tissue if you inhale too quickly or deeply. Mike's walking proof, too, that this method (welders' tanks) is viable and safe if you don't go nuts.
