I work with Ambulance Service of N.S.W. Australia
We have been using Methoxyflurane for about 9 months now.We have found that in most cases this drug works very well on patients, however we are now investigating the effects this drug is having on staff when confined in the back of ambulance with patient. Most seem to be getting bad headaches with associated nausea.Paramedics and advanced life support officers are using morphine i.v. more now as they can't stand the smell. We are also looking for any evidence of long term harm to staff but this information is hard to find. Can anyone help with this problem?
