I only found this site a few days ago, after 4 years without CH. Now they have returned.
Like all of us I´m eager to find out what causes these pains.
Having been threated with useless drugs during my first CHs back in the 70´s, I have lived through them since.
In the beginning 3 weeks a year. Attackfree periods have grown longer and longer. The latest 4 years. I´m 46.
I´m not only new to this site, but also to the internet, but I have spend this Cristmas holiday reading everything on these sites.

It seems noone knows what causes CH.
When I read about all the chemical processes going on in our brains I allmost get a headache.
I can´t wait for an explanation to be found that way.
I feel that I´m healthy in all other respects. I´m not allergic to anything, I´ve never hit my head severely, or experienced any severe traumas. I live in a minor town in Denmark Scandinavia with little polution.

I found info on these sites about CH sufferers who seems to be cured after attending a sleep clinic.
They didn´t know in advance that anything was wrong with their sleep pattern.
But there was. ( Read the messages on sleep apnea).
I found a Sleep apnea Questionnaire on the internet. 20 questions. If you could say yes to 5 of them you may have a sleep disorder. www.apneanet.org/question.htm
I can only say yes to 4.
I perspire a lot at night
I wake up with a dry mouth and throat.
I don´t feel refreshed after 8 hours of sleep
I wish I had more energy and less fatigue.
I often wake up with a headache. ( only during a cluster)

The only thing I know is perhaps abnormal in my sleep is that I do not breathe through my nose.
I seldom dream.

It may be that sleep disorder is not the cause, but I think it´worth trying, The cure is simple. You are not filled with drugs. Problem is that in my country there is a long waiting list for the sleep lab.

I found a site from a sleep disorder clinic at University of Michigan.
In september 1997 they were looking for 50 people with CH to investigate what role sleep may play in CH.
Were any of you guinneapigs there.
Has anyone seen any results.

Hope we will be able to drink champagne on New Years Eve
Cai
