I have suffered from chronic clusters for over ten years and I quite often suffer this rebound effect. I believe whatever triggers attack (booze, fatigue, sleep position etc.) is still present causing rebound of headache. Drugs which are orally taken stay in the system longer, preventing mutiple triggers.
