This subject is nearly as poorly understood as
the relationship between depression and chronic
pain. Just thank the news shows for profligating
this type of misinformation.
Junkies pursue drugs for purely psychological
rewards! Pain patients pursue drugs to obtain
some small degree of normalcy in life, indeed to have
a life. The motivations define the ease of release,
when a pain patient is controlled the motivation
for drug use is gone.
