Sorry to hear you have a doc who still need to be broken in on CH.

I believe there is nothing short of a complete knockout that lets you sleep through an attack. Therefore, sleeping pills would be counter-productive, they let you sleep just a few minutes longer before an attack wakes you up, and then it's already in full blast and more refractory to any abortive attempt.

However, why don't you try Dramamine, the stuff Margi is pushing all the time (she must have a lot of shares :).
It is a OTC travel sickness med that lets you sleep but does prevent the REM phase sleep, and that where the beast usually hits.
