CyndiS, to educate you a bit on copyright law.

Any unique intellectual property is automatically covered by copyright the moment it is placed on a public forum. The Supreme Court has already ruled that the Internet is a public forum, thus, anything anyone here posts is immediately copyrighted by the poster. The writer is not obligated to file for a copyright.

If anyone copies Deveny's story and attempts to use it in any way which brings value to the copier, without properly compensating Deveny for her license, they have violated copyright law.

mp3 has received a summary judgement against them in this precise example. Even though they, themselves, did not copy any intellectual property, they facilitated the ability of others to do so. Given the number of proven violations, they face a $66 Billion fine.

Think two, three, four or more times before you copy and paste on the Internet.

KTSSU,
T
