I have written before and I understand that not every comment gets a response. I attend Chicago International Charter School, Longwood Campus; ans Edison Project. This is a new school, but the treatment we students have endured is ridiculous. All we need is a backbone. I am the senior class president of the class of 2000. I have tried so hard to speak up and out for the students with questions, comments, and concerns. I thought I could do it by myself, but I can't. Many students have contacted aldermans, lawyers, and we hope to hear fron Bobby Rush on our behalf. It is so hard enduring the pressures of being a teenager/ young adult all alone. This is the prime time in a young person's life for depression, alcohol, drug addictions, and suicide. So many students have confided in me there personal problems and how this school only makes it worse. In the process of pursuing a lawsuit against my school, I wish to write you first. I know thta I will be graduating in June 2000, but for those under me, I only want the best. I don't want them to go through what we went through. Harsh and unfair treatment, being treated as chained animals ready to be loosened. We have been put down, publically embarassed, approved programs and them denied at the last minute. Senior year is supposed to be the best year of your life. Th e one year you remember besides 8th grade and college graduation. I plan to go to NorrthPark University on the northside of Chicago where I am receiving a full 4 year scholarship. If nothing else, I just want to let someone- you know how I feel how CICS students feel. Please be our voice, if not- I would like to invite you to the Graduating Class of 2000 Commencement Excercises.
